Hi, I’m Theresa, the mom behind Gypsy Mom — a travel and lifestyle blog inspired by family, freedom, and finding home wherever we land. I’m a mom of four, now living full-time in Belize, where I’m bringing my biggest dream to life.
My vision is to build four Airbnb homes, all connected by the same theme of warmth, comfort, and adventure — located in the places we love most: Pender Island (BC), San Pedro (Belize), Calgary (Canada), Los Cabos (Mexico), and an off-grid wilderness retreat. Each home will share the same spirit — cozy, family-friendly, and infused with the magic of travel and island living.
I may take on partners in some locations as the vision grows, but for now, it’s a dream in motion. Follow me as I build, move, decorate, and design — one home and one chapter at a time.

About
Hi, I’m Theresa Grimmer, the mom behind “My Life as a Gypsy Mom.” I’m a mother of four — Lilyanna (4), Alexander (3), Nathaniel (2), and my eldest, who is 13. Since February, we’ve been living abroad in beautiful Belize, soaking up island life while still making frequent trips back to Canada. My daughter says traveling between the two is easy — “it’s only three planes to get to Belize!” (Easy for her… not so much for me!)
Our family splits time between the peaceful beauty of Pender Island and the sandy shores of San Pedro, Belize, always chasing new adventures and warmer weather.
Over the years, we’ve journeyed between Calgary and Pender Island, but our wanderlust hasn’t stopped there. We spent two months exploring the stunning Baja Peninsula in Mexico, ending up at Cerritos Beach, and this past summer took an unforgettable trip to Hyder, Alaska. Seattle is still a regular hop for us, too. With four little ones, I’ve learned to live by a five-hour flight limit and a four-hour road-trip max — anything longer requires snacks, songs, and deep breathing.
On this blog, I share real-life tips for turning your home into a kid-friendly Airbnb — inspired by my own trial-and-error experiences managing homes while on the move. You’ll also find family travel advice, from road trips and long-haul flights to surviving bucket baths and border crossings with toddlers.
